Why choose quality over price?
Everyone, at some point in their lives, will have experienced the headache of choosing between quality versus the price of a product or service. It is often thought that high quality means paying a higher price.
We all live in an age where budgeting dominates many buying decisions, small and great.
Just imagine this situation...
I would like to purchase rubber flooring for the stable walkways to make it safer for horses walking in and about the stables. I want to make sure the flooring is high quality and will last a long time but still be safe for the horses.
I create a budget based on what I currently have saved and a figure that won't dent the cash flow too badly. However, I haven't investigated the potential monetary value needed to archive my goal of purchasing rubber flooring for the stable walkways.
Sometimes we fool ourselves into believing we have a good deal when we are able to find a product or service that fits the budget, but this is not always the case. In reality, accepting lower quality products and services may be the result of having to correct what was done incorrectly the first time, replacing a product before the end of its potential lifespan, or even purchasing an equally attractive product or service without learning from our mistakes
The price doesn’t always reflect the quality, or does it?
However, high prices do not always mean the highest quality and therefore assessing a purchase and its ability to meet your needs is essential. How do you assess a purchase? You need to look at the following:
1. What do you want the product/service needs to do for you? This means separating your needs from what you want.
2. Research into the past performance of the product or service you are looking for by speaking to other people who have used the same product or service.
